Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Snape birth record
« on: Friday 15 June 18 21:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have found a Anne Markham  bapt. 14-6-1795  in Snape St.John the d/o James & Mary (late Mealing) born 11-12-1794.

Taken from the SuffolkFHS CD of baptisms for Loes & Orford Deaneries.

Is this the person you're after?

Edited; This seems to tie in with the marriage Johnw65 found below.

Alan

Thankyou Alan, that is very helpful! It does say Snape on her census records so looks like a good fit. Thankyou

Thankyou! That's really interesting that there were Markhams in Snape. I know the records aren't online ... I mostly use ancestry and there doesn't seem to be alot of Suffolk records. I probably need to do more research on the Lds records.
We can see that there was some Markham activity in Snape (even without the baptisms!)
Mary Markham, buried 6 January 1797, age 38
James Markham, buried 6 June 1819, age 74

also Letitia buried 15 Oct 1804, age 13

If James + Mary were a married couple, possibility might be 3 June 1781, Bawdsey, James Markham + Mary Mealing.

Marriage in Snape, 11 October 1799, Hammond Howell + Mary Markham

Closest I can find.

Annette

Thankyou! I think that's very likely to be her  :)

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Snape birth record

Hi,
This is a long shot, but thought I'd ask anyway.
I'm looking for a birth record for Ann Markum, born around 1793-96 in Snape, Suffolk. She married George Teager 25 May 1819 in Hatcheson and spent most of her life in Parham.

There is a christening for an Ann Markham in 1800 in Burgate but this is is a different Ann.

Any help appreciated  :)

Another strange thing 1871/1881 Emmas future husband is a Soldier.

1871 under John Broomton 1853 Tilby Lincs, in Essex
1881 under John Brumpton 1853 Market Rasen, Lincoln, in Berkshire

Yes, I noticed that too! Emma and Charles had another child together. Charles Walter Butt born December 1876. So they stayed together for a few years. In 1871 Emma is living in London as servant.  There is another border at the same house called Charles Floyd. The first name is probably a coincidence but I'm having no luck searching for Charles Butt. So I'm looking at all the options  ;) I wondered if Charles was from the same Barracks as John Brompton. It seems strange that Emma and Charles didn't marry ... it says on the birth cert that Emma is Emma Butt formerly Teager but clearly they were never married as there is no marriage record.

Please let us know the outcome of the Birth Cert :)
So I have the birth cert, which says her mother is Emma Butt, formerly Teager and her father is Charles Butt a soldier. Date of birth 7th November 1872  :)

Thankyou everyone that is very helpful  :-* I've searched the different spellings of his last name for records. It definitely looks like he was from Suffolk and not Essex as I originally thought

I am still confused Emma married John William Brampton 1881 in London, Her Father Watter (Walter (deceased)

So a Birth Cert is need I think to sort out who Gertrudes Parents were.

Thanks, yes just going to order her birth cert. The family situation with Teager/Seagars and all of their extended family is quite confusing. Barabara had a few grandchildren living with her for a while.

It seems like Gertrude and Charles must have moved to London on their own as 1891 Gertrude in workhouse and Charles was a 14 year old lodger.

Essex / Walter Teager

Hi,
I'm looking for any info on Walter Teager ... all I have been able to find out is that he married Barabara Sophia Finch in July-August-Sept 1852 in Romford Essex. By the 1861 census it looks like Walter has passed away but I can't find a death record for him.

His family had moved to Suffolk, and he had 3 children. Thomas 10 (b. Tendering), Emma 7 (b. Hornchurch) and Walter 4 (b. Suffolk).

I think Walter must have passed away around 1857 - 1861. I also can't find him in 1851.

Any help appreciated:)
