Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: St Maybn PENROSE Marriage
« on: Monday 24 August 09 04:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi Chris,

Thanks for your help. Here we go!

Ellen PENROSE (Devon 1836) daughter of  Charles Vinnicomb PENROSE (St Kew 1812), son of Joseph PENROSE of Bradock (1785).

Trying to go back further.......

Parish records of Bradock show  John PENROSE and Anne, parent of William (1731) and George (1732).  Then (thanks to Kris) there appears to be a burial of Anne in 1733. No mention of a birth for John.

I cannot find a marriage of John PENROSE and Anne in Bradock.  However, there is a marriage in Lanivet of John PENROSE and Anne ROBERTS in 1730.  (Time frame fits and I am thinking they may have moved to Bradock).  Records show they had 2 children William and George (names tie in with both the fathers names of John & Anne.)  I am thinking John PENROSE who married Joan HENWOOD may be their son as well. But cannot confirm it.

However (more confusion) there is an record at  St Maybn for a marriage John PENROSE  and Jane  JOHNS (1766), and it state the John PENROSE is from Braddock.  Cannot work out how this entry fits!

I am leaning twowards the Lanivet PENROSE and the Braddock PENROSE being the one family,  related thru John PENROSE and Anne ROBERTS.  As the name of Charles Vinnicomb PENROSE (father of Ellen) has confused me for a while.  If, the John PENROSE of Lanivet moved to Braddock after marrying Anne ROBERTS, this could explain the name.  As the Lanivet family had a Admrl Charles Vinnicomb PENROSE.

Now if you can offer any help or guidance on this line of PENROSE that would be fantastic.  Hopefully I have not confused you to much! ;D

Hi Kris,
Many thanks for your kindness.  I appreciate your PM to Chris for me.  The Ann and John PENROSE at Lanivet are the ones I am trying to tie to the Broadoak family.  I will also see if there is any info at the Cornwall Record Office.  I was not sure exactly where to look.  Thanks for the info on the burial of Ann.  Many thanks once again.
Kind regards

Thanks Kris
I appreciate your help and patience trying to understand my jibberish!  Now I have the right date, perhaps this John PENROSE of Broadoak = Jane JOHNS was possibly a previous marriage before John PENROSE  = Joan HENWOOD!

Do the Parish records show deaths or burials as well?

Another question.......There is a  Broadoak record showing a Baptism for a William (1731) and George (1732) who it says parents were John PENROSE and Anne.  Would the acutal parish records show the surname of the Anne or where abouts this couple may have come from......if they were from another Parish etc. Other children.

Is there anywhere I can get information that may show me where they lived eg rates etc? Or I am I chasing a lost cause and wont be able to obtain a bit more information to help piece together a puzzle?

Any suggestion would be welcome.  I have tried getting in touch with the Parish clerks both at St Maybn and Broadoak but the emails bounce back.  Also there is another "Chris"  I note who has used this site on the PENROSE family.  Is there anyway of sending him a message?  Questions, question, questions.  Thanks Kris! ;D

Hi
Sorry I wish to apologize......I made a error!

What I mean to say and ask help with is that in St Maybn there was a Parish record for a marriage of John PENROSE from Broadoak to a Jane in 1776.

I would like to know if any one has the records to see if there is more information available.  As I am interested in the PENROSE from Broadoak.  And I have a John PENROSE marrying a Joan HENWOOD.  There was a John PENROSE and a Anne earlier which may be the John who was married in St Maybn.  Basically I dont know who this John PENROSE from Broadoak and his marriage in St Maybn fit's in.  If any one can be bothered after all this rambling I have done to help me shed any kind of light on this I would be much appreciated.

Regards
A very confused Reoinna

Cornwall Lookup Requests / St Maybn PENROSE Marriage

Hi
Just wondering if someone has the records for St Maybn Parish.  I have seen an entry for a marriage for a John PENROSE to a Jane around 1776 and it gave his parish as Broadoak.  I have a John PENROSE who married a Joan HENWOOD and they started to have children around 1768.  I am interested to see if this John PENROSE may have married previously in another parish.  Is there anyway for me to be able to find out if this may be the one and same man?  Any help or thoughts would be so appreciated.
Many thanks.

Meath / West Meath Brady & Morley
« on: Sunday 28 June 09 07:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have some early relatives that came to Australia about 1860.
Patrick BRADY and Anne MORLEY.  I have there death certs and various birth certificates of children and they state they were from West Meath on a few and then others it looks as if it is Knocknamore or Knockmark.

Anne MORLEY brother Peter and his wife Bridgit MCLAUGHLIN also joined them a few years later and they have similary info on their death certs.

Is there an a place as such would any one know? I thankyou in advance for any info or guidance you might be able to offer.
Kind regards

Hi,
I am just new and think this site is fantastic and so.... interesting and thought I would ask this question.  My grandfather was born in Wicklow and in particular Arklow.  He was a seaman back there and I have been wondering if there would be any paperwork that is available as to want he did eg the boats he worked on etc in Ireland. The type of life he may have led. He came out to Australia and died on the SS Casino at Apollo Bay when in sank.  I have some newspaper clippings but would there also be any where in Victoria where I could get some paperwork info on him and the vessels he worked?  Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Thankyou!
