United States of America / George and Mary Brown NYC in 1920
« on: Wednesday 29 August 12 11:23 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking through Ancestry's US census for George Bown, b.1875 Wales, arrived US 1894, steward and married to Mary Brown b1877 Irish Free State, arrived 1902 and I think I have found them in 1930 and 40 but for the life of me I cannot find then in 1910 or 20.

I do know that George went to the UK in Jun 1920 but I thought the census was in Jan?  Is this right?

« on: Saturday 25 August 12 19:06 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking the will for Mr Catherine Mortimer or Maurice Brown who dies Sep 1893 in Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire.  her husband was a George Brown and I believe she was wealthy with her own family money.  he however is in poverty by 1901.  I am unsure as to why this is the case unless the money went back to her family?  Can amyone tell me where I can view the will or find out the info in it?

thanks

Carmarthenshire / Disappearance of Albert Mortimer Brown
« on: Saturday 07 July 12 15:05 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to track down Albert Mortimer Brown who I beleive was living in Carmarthenshire in 1901.  He appears in Llanelly in the census of that year living with his father George.  I can then not find him anywhere.

Albert is born in Sep 1886 in St David's Pembrokeshire.  His brothers George Mortimer Brown and Osborne have emigrated to NY City USA while his mother Catherine has died.  One other brother, Latimer has joned the Royal navy while another Horatio is a baker in Wales.  Now with names like these, not standard Pembroke fare by any means, I have tracked the brother but Albert and father George (b.1850) elude me.

I suspect they have fallen into poverty as George snr was a retired farmer before his wife died and the family money may have gone with her.

Grateful for any asssitance to find him post 1901, any emigration or death.

Somerset / ALBERT WILLIAM READE, SOLICITOR
« on: Sunday 10 June 12 21:10 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the address for Albert William Reade in 1911.  I have found him on the census but there is no house name.  He was living in Chardleigh Green, Wadeford in a 10 room house.  He dies Jun-Sep 1945.  Is his will on line and would it have his address in it?

Thanks

Alan

Somerset / John Annings, Chardleigh Green, Wadeford
« on: Monday 07 May 12 20:54 BST (UK)  »
I believe that John Annings was an old man in WW2 and living in a cottage in Chardleigh green, Wadeford.  The house is next to Hallfields House where he was a gardener.  Does anyone know anything about the man or the house.  It now bears his name but I cannot find anything else about him.

Thanks

Dorset / First 'Moore' on Portland.
« on: Saturday 21 May 11 15:45 BST (UK)  »
I have gone back through Portland, Dorset records for marraiges and baptisms for the Moore Family name.  The 'first' Moore appears to be a James Moore who marrys a Rebecca Stone on 5 May 1757. All other 'Moores' on Portland appear to be descended from this one man.

The Groom's parish is given as Hinton St Mary which is near Blandford Dorset.  Is anyone aware of whether Hinton St mary's Parish records exist for this period so I can take the line back any further?
