The Common Room / 1911 census - where is (Freda) Ethel Margaret Borrelli B:
« on: Friday 16 January 15 18:24 GMT (UK)  »
Ethel Margaret Borrelli (known as Freda) born 1908 and now now deceased.
Her parents were Elizabeth Jane Horton and Fedrico Borrelli.
At the time of the 1911 census her parents Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Fedrico were not married.
The 1911 shows Lizzie living with her mother but no sign of Freda so I am wondering where she is; cant find her on any 1911.

The Common Room / Gaitanino E F Borrelli when and where died?
« on: Friday 16 January 15 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,
Hoping someone could help please.
I have just cracked a brick wall with Elizabeth Jane Horton and found she married Federico Borrelli.
They had three children that I know of and the one I am working on now is Gaitanino E F Borrelli who was born 1921 in Islington.
I am unable to find a marriage or a death for him, or indeed any info   ???
Currently I am using Ancestry premium and thats it apart from the free ones.
Thank you
Sue

The Common Room / Completed Help to find a marriage please
« on: Tuesday 30 December 14 14:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have struggled for many years now to find the marriage of my 2nd G grandparents, Richard Thomas Wills and Abigail Bennett.
Richard was born 1802, Bishopsgate, London and Abigail was born 1806, Aldgate / Aldersgate, London. Their first child, Richard Wills was born 1826, Whitechapel, London. They spent the majority of their lives living in Bethnal Green where Richard T worked as a shoemaker.

I decided to take another look to see if I could find this marriage and a Facebook member on the Ancestry UK group has said he has seen this marriage on Ancestry in the London marriages, Bethnal Green 1826 but try as I might I cannot see it. Any offers please??

I have tried spelling the names differently, tried the search with only one of them, thought maybe they never married. Looked at where the first child was born which was Whitechapel, looked at Bethnal Green where the FB member said he had seen it, all to no avail. :(

The Common Room / Finding a twins birth record
« on: Friday 14 November 14 16:32 GMT (UK)  »
My deceased aunt says she was a twin but that the twin died or was dead at birth. I cannot find evidence of a twin in the BMD and wonder if it were a stillbirth would it be in another kind of record.
Thank you

The Common Room / Facial comparison please
« on: Monday 08 September 14 10:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I was hoping someone could compare these two photo's and hopefully agree they are the same person but I think the answer will be no.
I have a picture of my step grandma with her husband, that was fine until another relative came and said are you sure that is him and came up with another photo on his own. There are likenesses but ones face seems more elongated and the other wide. Seem to be wearing the same uniform wearing a lanyard to the right shoulder.
What do you think?

World War One / WW1 researching soldier
« on: Sunday 06 July 14 22:07 BST (UK)  »
I am researching my step grandfather Denton Riley. I understand he was in the Royal Army Service Corp, M2/133593 Ranks, Private, then promotion to Lieutenant.

If anyone can tell from the medal card (I have no access) when he enlisted, I should be grateful.

I also understand that his death many years later in 1954 was due to the damage he sustained to his lungs during gassing on the front.

If anyone has access to service records, I would be interested to know when and where the gassing may have occurred.

Denton was from Stockton on Tees, Durham

Have a look at these photo's, one a little boy and one a young soldier. They are from a batch of old photographs relating to the family of my deceased step mum.

Do the faces look like they could be the same person?

Thank you
Sue
