Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A tidy up please (no 2)
« on: Thursday 06 February 14 21:58 GMT (UK)  »
Please tidy this photo up for me. Currently I have not identified the individuals but I am hoping to get some idea soon once other relatives have seen it. It came from my late step mums batch of photo's which were originally her mothers and the family came from Yorkshire.

Please tidy up this photo for me. I believe the soldier is William Christopher Ingram Hird who was in the West Yorkshire regiment. He came from a farming family in Grinton North Yorkshire.

This is Tommy (deceased), my step mums first husband. It seems like a nice picture but I haven't got the finished product. Anyone willing to have a go please.

Thank you
Sue

« on: Wednesday 05 February 14 18:39 GMT (UK)  »
Here are the other 3. I do apologise if there is any other pics other than the wedding but I can't see them very well. If they are not suitable then I would not expect you to put them on the site.

Thank you
Sue

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Negatives restore please
« on: Wednesday 05 February 14 18:34 GMT (UK)  »
The last negative restored was done so beautifully by Steve and Jim that I am going to be very cheeky and ask for some more to be done of my stepmum and my dads wedding, both deceased. The negatives are so tiny that I am really unsure of who else is in them but I can recognise her (Brenda), my dad (Bert) and the maid of honour (Betty) also deceased.

There are four here and I think I may have two more for later.

Thank you
Sue

I have found an old transparency photo of my deceased step mum Brenda Halls. I don't have the finished article of this one and I am wondering if it is possible for someone to turn it into a black and white photo. I am not sure when this was taken but I think in the 60's. The finished product will give us some idea of the date.

Thank you
Sue

Technical Help / Unwanted photo in the background of all scans
« on: Friday 31 January 14 16:10 GMT (UK)  »
I have been using my scanner and it has taken to putting a photo (the same one each time) in the background of each scan.
I don't know how to resolve this problem; any ideas?

My dear old mum passed away very recently and the photo is one of her that I have scanned that keeps appearing.

The Common Room / COMPLETED can someone have 2 birth certs
« on: Sunday 26 January 14 22:11 GMT (UK)  »
My deceased mother has 2 birth records with 2 different surnames, they both have the same record number. Does this mean there are 2 certificates each with a different name or does it mean that both names are included on the database for ease of searching.

Her father was not the man her mum was married to, the certificate I have show both the married name of her mother and the father's name which of course is different.

Confused

Sue

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Lookup if still exists school register Skipton 1899
« on: Saturday 11 January 14 09:22 GMT (UK)  »

I have an old family photo of a group of school children and teachers at the Skipton British School 1899. I am guessing that as it belonged to my step mum there is a family member in it, but I don't know who!!!

My step mums mother Bertha Maudesley who was born and went to school in Skipton would have been about 4 yo at the time so perhaps not her as too young. She did have older sisters, Isabel (16), Hilda (5) and Eva (11).

If anyone has access to the school records for that year (if they still exist!!) I would be grateful for a look up.
Thank you
Sue
