Don't put any names in just a year and Selby ~ that's how I did it.

Does this work ?

No! Do you go to 'Marriages & Divorces' or just use the general search? Also, do you put in the year for event or marriage or both?

Anyway, I still got the transcription but no image or link to an image.

Hello Claire - many thanks once again and great to see the image. I have put those search terms in and I still only get the transcribed record; I can't seem to get a link to that image so still can't see how you get there.

I ask as there are several marriages I'd like to find but I can't seem to access the marriage registers - only baptisms and burials. What do you think?

Hi

Yes the marriage was at Selby Abbey, here are a few more details

John COWLDWELL of the parish of Nabourn ( Naburn ?) and Ann Richardson of this parish married 3 December after Banns

He signed register, she left her mark

Witnesses: Nicholas Smith and Thomas Richardson

Hi Claire - how do you access specific marriages on FindMyPast? (The route to find the record set might be good to post.) I can only find two transcriptions of this marriage there. Or is your source something else?

Oh dear... and now there seems to be another Elizabeth Wilson, declaring the same father's Christian name, and with the same year of birth, living in Sherburn, with a life forking in a totally different direction: dystoniapete on Ancestry's tree.

Possible scenario

Bear in mind South Milford is in the parish of Sherburn in Elmet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You need to check original parish registers and original 1841 census  to confirm info, also  abodes in the parish registers but so far seems to fit locations
The 1841c is Monk Fryston -residence Burton (Burton Salmon is about 4 miles from Birkin parish village where William Wilson and Ann Twivy married 1829 in Birkin Parish)
above link - Elizabeth Wilson bapt 1838 Sherburn in Elmet (abode probably South Milford)
Elizabeth's possible brother George Wilson b 1835 in top 1841c link is the Key
William Wilson X Ann Twivy marriage 1829 Birkin above link
There is another William Wilson and Ann in Barkston Ash in Sherburn in Elmet parish for George Wilson baptized 1842 (birth year 1843 on 1851 census but no Elizabeth b 1837 ish on 1841c for this couple)
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QKVP-HR84
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQP2-43R
I'm wondering why we think this is a different couple? Why can it not be the same? What I have found is that George's baptism shows the couple now living in Barkston Ash, hence tallies with the census.
Can you by any chance see the burial of Catherine Stephenson (then Faithwait(e)), 19 Jan 1814? Does it give an age?
We know from the Dade that she is the daughter of "John Stephenson of Clifforth in the parish of Bramham". But having looked in Bramham I don't think I can see her...
Thank you so much! Does FindMyPast have all the PRs of Brayton from around this period in? Additionally, what dates are Dade and are they on FindMyPast or elsewhere?
