I'm very interested in any information available on the Kidderminster Branch of the Ancient Order of Foresters of which my great grandfather JOHN DALE (1845 - 1916) became a member in 1863 and remained until shortly before his death. His son William Dale also became a member after him. They both lived at Shirlheath, near Kingsland in Herefordshire. I'm interested in all aspects of the organization and its history and any records of their membership too if they still exist. Thank you for reading this. I await a reply with interest.  JohnCH.

Radnorshire / Old Radnor Church Records enquiry
« on: Saturday 12 September 09 17:16 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out any information I can about a Hugh Dale, whose d.o.b. I estimate as being around 1650-70. I believe he was born in, or near the village of Old Radnor and baptised there.

This Hugh Dale - and the name of his wife, as yet unknown, is greatly hampering me in my research. Is there some kind person who could help me establish some information on this ancestor please?  Thank you.  JohnCH.

Herefordshire / Handleys of Hereford

I am interested in any information on the Handley family from Hereford. Charles Henry Handley was a member of the Salvation Army in Maylord Street for most of his life. He acted as the Young Peoples' Sergeant Major for twenty-five years before his untimely death in 1935 - the result of a motorcycle accident. His day-time work was as a plumber all over Herefordshire in the employment of Hardings Hardware Shop in Hereford. He married Rose Dale in 1903 and they had seven children: Kate, Minnie, Helena, Muriel, Edith, Eva and Frank. Up until 1925 they lived at No.14, Foley Street and from thence at No.8, (later 109) Whitecross Road.  Any information or personal memories would be greatly appreciated in my research.     John CH.

I'm looking for any information about Sarah Vane and her family. She married John Geary (d.1911) at Kings Somborne on 06 Feb 1883 and I believe they lived at Kings Somborne and later at Brook. They had two sons: William George, probably known as George who married Emily, and Walter Charles. Contact from any descendants of William George , or information on him, would be most welcomed in my research. When Sarah died the following attached Obituary appeared in the Romsey Advertiser.    Thank you. JohnCH.

Walter (1891 - 1971) was my grandfather and I should like to know of anyone who can remember him  in the Romsey area for research I am doing about his life. He was a great character and I feel sure he will be remembered by some.
He married Florence Wheeler, who died in 1948. They had two children Joanne and Ron and lived at The Causeway alongside the River Test at Romsey. Walter became Head Water Bailiff on the Mountbatten Estate at Broadlands. His time there spanned fifty years (he retired with a B.E.M. in 1963).  In the photograph Walter Geary is fishing with BBC broadcaster Franklyn Englemann (foreground) on the River Test near Middle Bridge where he had a fishing hut. Walter became quite a legend! Please leave a message if you can kindly help my research.

With thanks.  JohnCH.
