Hi

If anyone is able to help I will be eternally grateful to you  and if you are able to find any siblings I will be even more grateful ;D

Technical Help / How do I use a mini disc?
« on: Sunday 09 January 11 19:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop which has a cd drive that does not come out, you push the cd in so my question is how on earth do I get it to play a mini disc?

If I push a mini disc in, it just gets stuck and I have to eject because I don't know where the centre spoke is (if that makes sense?)

Thank you

Sussex / Anyone with ancestors on Ashdown Forest?
« on: Thursday 25 November 10 16:16 GMT (UK)  »
You might find this link interesting if you did.

http://www.ashdownforest.org/news/conservator_meetings_archive.php

PDF transcripts of all of the Conservator meetings and mentions various different inhabitants, for instance I found mention of some inhabitants who were in breach of the byelaws by cutting peat.

They date from the 1880s.

Surrey / John Neale born about 1750, Lingfield, Surrey
« on: Monday 01 November 10 16:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for any information on John Neale who married Sarah Nash 1774 in Lingfield, Surrey.  I have found the following children on East Grinstead baptism records
Elizabeth 1783 (married William Fowler, my ancestor)
Nancey Clifford Neale 1782
John 1785

I also have a copy of John's will dated 1833 which names the following children:
Sarah and son in law William Huggett of East Grinstead
sons James and William
and daughter Martha who married Edward Dodswell (Dadswell?)

These children I cannot find the baptisms for and presume they were baptised in Lingfield.

I have however, found some mention of them on the weald.org website giving Martha a birth of 1790 and James 1795 but no baptism records to confirm.

I am particularly looking for the baptisms of these children and also John and Sarah Nash, their parents.

thank you

Kerry

PS Before anyone mentions it, I have checked Lingfield records on Ancestry but unfortunately there is nothing for the 1700s on there  ::)  Same for IGI

Sussex Lookup Requests / Anybody going to WSRO?
« on: Friday 03 September 10 16:03 BST (UK)  »
Is anybody going to the West Sussex Record Office and would you mind checking a marriage for me please?

The marriage is 6 February 1736/37 between Elizabeth Vigor and George Rice at Horsham, the SMI says she was a spinster but all the evidence points to her actually being a widow.

I believe Elizabeth is Elizabeth Stedman who married John Vigor in 1730 and he died in November of that year.

Various deeds of a cottage and land at Balcombe state an assignment of lease in May 1737 from (a) William Stedman of Balcombe, sen (believed to be Elizabeth's father according to my records) (adminisgtrator of John Vigor deceased), George Rice of Worth, yeo and w. Elizabeth (late widow of John Vigor) and William West of Balcombe, collier; and (b) John Vigor, only son of the said John and Elizabeth Vigor to Henry Gatland of cuckfield gent, in trust for (b)  (Add Mss17095) found on A2A

Thank you if anyone is able to help

Kent Lookup Requests / Louisa Eastwood born 1811
« on: Monday 09 August 10 12:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Just wondering if anyone has access to Speldhurst records?

Would you be able to check the baptism of Louisa Eastwood born about 1811 to Stephen and Frances Eastwood and are there any siblings from marriage in 1811?

Stephen and Frances married in Burwash, East Sussex, their place of origin but it appears that Stephen was working in Speldhurst and on memorial inscriptions at Burwash that I am currently checking this Louisa appears, she died aged 2 in 1813 and buried at Burwash.  But no children are baptised to Stephen and Frances at Burwash.

thank you

Kerry
