Europe / LEWIS RUDER and JANET HENDERSON
« on: Friday 19 June 15 21:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone know anything about this couple, especially Lewis RUDER.

All I know is that Lewis was a German military officer who was possibly in charge of french prisoners of war (Napoleonic Wars) in the Borders region of Scotland. He had an affair with Janet HENDERSON and that the result was Elizabeth, born 10 June 1814 at Lauder, Berwickshire,  Scotland, who later went on to marry William ARMSTRONG.

I would be grateful for any info.

Aberdeenshire / ALEXANDER MURRAY and MARY BISSET
« on: Saturday 26 October 13 11:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

This couple were both born in Caputh, Perth, but between 1832 and 1833 they moved to Aberdeen.
Alexander was a seaman, but he was drowned in 1853 on a spring voyage to Quebec - this is according to a Monumental Inscription at St. Clements Churchyard, Aberdeen.
Does anyone have an idea so that I could find the actual ship that Alexander was on. I have, I think, found that there is a possibility of 4 ships, one being "Berbice", the second "Jane Boyd", the third "Renown" and finally "St. Lawrence".
They had 6 children and one of them, Andrew, according to the same source, died in 1855 in Hong Kong.
Their children were 1]. Mary N. born 1827 at Dundee.
2]. George N. born 1829 Dundee.
3]. John born 1831 Dundee.
4]. James Cargill born 1833 Aberdeen.
5]. Andrew, born 1836 Aberdeen
6]. Janet Dow, born 1839 Aberdeen.

I would be grateful for any help or information regarding this family.

Northumberland / Andrew STEVENSON and Christina HESLOP
« on: Friday 26 July 13 23:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am looking for any information on Andrew STEVENSON; in particular his exact date of birth, which was in Edinburgh, Scotland. He died in Newcastle either December 1903 or January 1904 - more likely January as he was buried 31 January 1904 at Willington Church Bank Cemetery. I have tried to obtain his death certificate, but was informed that the information I gave did not match up with any dates etc. So nothing was forthcoming! I am also looking to find his parents but nothing likely turns up on ScotlandsPeople, so Andrew has probably not been registered, as all the Stevenson / Stephenson parents do not match up with him. The 1841 census has him as amanservant and not with parents; 1851 he was married. He moved with his family to Newcastle between 1855 and 1858.
If anyone knows anything about this family I would really like to hear from them...anything!!
