New Zealand Completed Requests / Looking for family of William, John & Edward MCMAHON b. Auckland bet.1845 & 1850
« on: Tuesday 25 June 19 09:53 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
An Armed Constabulary Nominal Roll dating to 1867-1869 lists three men who appear to be brothers:
William MCMAHON aged 24 (born c’1845 at Auckland)
John MCMAHON aged 22 (born c’1847 at Auckland)
Edward MCMAHON aged 18 (born c’1850 at Auckland)
All three joined at Napier on 14 June 1869 and were labourers on enlistment. All stated that they were born in Auckland. All served in No 1 Division, although John and Edward also served in No. 3 at some point.
I haven’t been able to find any definitive record of any of them on Papers Past or their births.
NZ BDM records that an Edward MCMAHON died on 27 April 1922 aged 72, which is an exact match. No obituary found on Papers Past. I can’t find the other two.
I would love some help finding more about these three men to confirm if they were indeed brothers, who their parents were and when they arrived in New Zealand, and any marriages and deaths for William, John and Edward.
Regards,
Spades
