Louth / Re: Seatown Cemetery, Dundalk – Monumental Inscriptions for Woods

I am just closing off this topic.  I searched the Tempest's Annuals during a trip to Dundalk, and paid a visit to what remains of Seatown Cemetery.  I drew a blank.

So topic closed!

Just wanting to close this topic now.  I have searched the Tempest's Annuals and drawn a blank.  Nothing more to be done!

Hi Silvery

I have now found the John Smith for whom I was searching.  I have recorded his details in a topic which I have started in the Cumberland forum.  I have ordered one further certificate trying to find the death of Mary Smith.  This is an expensive business of hit-and-miss!

I have finally got round to ordering the certificate for the first marriage of Major Nelson's father:

14 December 1865 at 1st Presbyterian [I think] Meetinghouse
George Nelsen, Full Age, Bachelor, Farmer
Resident at Deraghland
Father: Robert Nelsen, Farmer
and
Jane Brown, 18 years, Spinster
Resident at Drumaclan
Father: John Brown, Farmer
Witnesses: Robert Nelsen & Thomas Brown

And the death certificate for the wife:

13 August 1875 at Drumaclan
Jane Nelson, Married, Aged 26 years, Farmer's Wife
Cause of Death: Diabetes for 2 years
Informant: George Nelson of Darraghland

The ages don't quite seem to tally between the two certificates.  At least one seems to be a year or two out.

Monaghan / Re: Gilliland Conly Ballybay

On the Forum for Unwanted Certificates, I have just posted details from some Death Certificates and Marriage Certificates for Gillilands.  These are certificates which I had ordered, but so far have been unable to tie into the family-tree.

The link to the Death Certificates is:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=744892.0

and the Marriage Certificates is just beside it.

In my post of 6 March 2016, I mentioned that a Robert Gilliland was listed on the census return with my Woods family in Glasgow in 1901.  I think this Robert Gilliland could be:

Robert Gilliland
born 12 January 1881 at Ullinagh
Father: Joseph Gilliland
Mother: Elizabeth Phillips.
(Source: IGI / familysearch.org)

This Robert would be 20 years old in April 1901, whereas the census return states 21 years.  However, this Robert was the nephew of my great-great-grandmother Anne Woods (nee Gilliland).  Also, he does not feature with his parents and siblings on the 1901 census in Ireland.  So I am pretty certain that this is the same Robert Gilliland.

Along with some other Rootchat folk, I have been researching the Gilliland family from around Ballybay, co Monaghan.  The main thread can be found on the Monaghan forum under the title: Gilliland Conly Ballybay:

Father: James Hillis, Farmer
Eliza Jane Gilliland
21 years, Spinster, Resident at Latter

Witnesses: James Cuming & Thomas Douglas

25 April 1867 at Clontibret

Father: William Gilliland, Farmer
Margaret Gilliland
Full age, Spinster, Resident at Arclintagh
