Hello Pughy,
I have been watching your postings on Lock/e's with interest, my Lock/es are from the Isle of Wight, amongst the records for Lock/e born on the Island is an Idris Salter Locke (no connection) born 1890 (illegitimate I believe as the mothers maiden name is not given so she was probably a Lock/e) he married in 1914 on the island and I believe he was killed in the 1st World War.
There was a James I Lock born 1865 on the island, I have often wondered what the "I" stood for as there were not many male names beginning with "I", if you can find a connection between these and yours I will try to help.

Idris Lock is an unusual name and the only ones I can see records for were yours and this one on the island.
Bye for now regards IOW Maiden.

Hello Fred,
its been a while since your last post on this message, but I just wondered could it be Bradley instead of Barnsley you are looking for, its just that I have Sharp's from Bradley and in tracking several of mine a few years ago now, I tracked back down a few census records with some of my branches and amongst my notes I have in the 1901 cencus  at Hook Parish Goole

Thomas Sharp  born 1861 Bradley a carpenter on Canal Quay boat
Mary A Sharp born 1862 Hook
Ethel  Sharp born 1896 Hook
Hannah  Sharp born 1897 Hook
Clifford  Sharp born 1898 Hook
John W Sharp 1900 Hook
there was also a couple of Lockwoods with them described as his sons

I believe this Thomas Sharp is the son of John Sharp and Grace of Bradley, West Yorkshire, I dont have a record of him in 1891 census but in the 1871 and 1881 he is living with his parents.
John Sharp was the brother of My GGG Grandfather William Sharp, I have no access to the census info for yours but it seems too much of a coincidence.
Let me know what you think, or give a little further information to help in the search for a possible connection.
Bye for now.

If memory doesn't desert me isn't there a Shelley which is near Kirkburton,
I know from looking for baptisms myself it was sometimes referred to as Bank End Shelley and Hilltop Shelley.

Thankyou so much Pauline,
I had seen the baptisms for John's children and worked out that he married  Karenhappuch Baldwin in 1840(BMD).
My first Karenhappuch (apparently from the Bible) as I think this John Wood must be the son of Benjamin Wood christened in 1817.

 :D :D :D :D thankyou.

23
My mistake,
too keen to look at the childrens names didn't notice you had put Jane as the mother.

24
Thankyou again Pauline,
looks like there were no other children, by the way was their mothers name still Jane as it was in 1881.

Thankyou again.

25
Thankyou Pauline,
Brighouse is where they were in 1881, I just thought they may have been somewhere else especially as Clara's birthplace was given as Halifax in the 1881.

Johnathan Wood 1823
Joseph Wood 1827
Johnathan Wood 1829
Ann Wood 1831
Eliza Wood 1834
Samuel Wood 1836
Charles Wood 1838

Hello,
I am looking into the family of my GG grandmother Sarah Wood  born 1864 Mirfield.
I know by the 1881 census and from working out the related families linked,Joseph had the following children
Ann Wood 1850 married Daniel Lockwood
Emily Wood 1854
Susannah Wood 1857 married James Byram 1874 and died 1880
Mary Wood 1860
Ben Wood 1862
Sarah Wood 1864 all at Mirfield and then
Clara Wood 1869 Halifax
Rebekka 1880???? Halifax (not sure about this one).

I believe this Joseph Wood is the son of Benjamin Wood and Hannah Barker who are listed on the IGI as having several children at Mirfield (13 in fact)

Can SKS look Joseph and his children up in an earlier census where the children are all together, who knows there may be more for him as well.

Thankyou, IOW Maiden.
