Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 lookup Elizabeth Green Birkenhead

Thankyou Neptune,
looks like I will have to send for the Abraham and Elizabeths marriage certificate, at least I know who Abrahams father was so it will be either him or another Abraham Morris.

Thankyou LKL.
I will have to look into it further, I think its more than likely Elizabeth may have been born to a single mother, the story is she was taken to a Mrs Barlow by a spinster and a Gentleman, they left her there and never came back for her, there is also a possible link to Ireland, things arn't straight forward on this one, without an 1851 census I may not be able to go any further, but it is a coicidence the Green/Barlow connection, was there anyone else in the household, thankyou.

In all census after1851 Elizabeth gives her place of birth as 1840/1 Birkenhead Cheshire where she is listed with her husband Abraham Morris (he was born Wakefield).
I have the certificate of their first child John Walter Morris born 1858 at Wakefield mother Elizabeth was formerly Elizabeth GREEN, I can't find a marriage for Abraham Morris and Elizabeth Green on BMD.

I have so far found 12 children with Abraham and Elizabeth, 6 of them had the middle name GREEN, one child Arthur GREEN DAVIES(spelling on 1881 census) Morris was born 1878 Bradford.
I have found a marriage for an Abraham Morris to an Elizabeth Davis in 1864 Liverpool.

We know there was a mystery surrounding this Elizabeth and she may have been brought up by a Mrs Barlow.
So is there anyone who can find Elizabeth  in the 1851 census please.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: 1901 lookup Elsie SUDDARDS please
« on: Sunday 08 March 09 12:08 GMT (UK)  »
Thankyou very much Mariac,
I thought it may be Samuel Suddards as the father as I had found the marriage for Samuel Suddards and Eliza Ellen Stocks in 1891 on free BMD, and we knew there was some connection to an Eliza E Stocks as my son has a small tapestry on his wall done by Eliza when a child.Thankyou again, I found the Samuel Suddards on the 1881 census and his father was a butcher too so I can now look further hopefully.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Re: Lock family Martyr/Kings Worthy

Hello Dean and others,
I'm sorry for putting my two peneth in but here goes.
I only have the 1881 census record to go at but in that the

James Lock living in Kingsworthy with a son Willam Lock born 1870 Kingsworthy gives his birth as 1828 Martyr Worthy,

then in Martyr Worthy in the 1881 census you have

James Lock born 1798 Martyr Worthy
William Lock born 1811 Martyr Worthy with possibly a second wife called Sarah
James Lock born 1823 Martyr Worthy unmarried.

Do you have any other census records to divide the two James Lock's 1823 and 1828,
perhaps someone on this site could do that for you and help you further.

Sorry again if I have made a mistake but its better to find out now than later down the line.

Regards iowmaiden born a Lock.

Hello again Betty,
I think you have mis-understood me the Quote I posted is what you had posted
on your first two messages, I coundn't understand why you were looking for a William Reed born 1748 Whitwell and then in your next post you were looking for a William Reed born abt 1844/48 Whitwell, I have no connection to the Salters and I dont live on the island, so it may take a while to find information for you but I will try.
Bye for now regards iowmaiden.

PS:
Whitfield could possibly refer to Whitefield which is an area in the Parish of Brading/Newchurch,
there was Great Whitefield ,Little Whitefield Farm and the Manor of Whitefield.
It could of been pronounced WHITFIELD.

Hi Betty,
which of the two William Reeds are you looking for?
QUOTE:
"I am descended from William Reed b. 1748 at Whitwell and am unsure who his parents are?
The William Reed I have was b. 1844/48 at Whitwell and was married twice.  First to Sarah Baker then to Sarah Meech nee
Chiverton."
