Your best bet is to take out a small ad in the Dundalk Democrat or the Argus.

Hi
There is a very impressive photographic tour of the abandoned Stephenstown House on www.abandonedireland.com    .I remember Stephenstown and an old Ms Fortescue, and her Sister, being there in the 60s. Also there was a relative, Major Digby Hamilton in residence there ,early sixties.
Many of the Fortescues are interred behind the Church at Heynestown ,Co Louth, near Dundalk.
Their graves are quite conspicuous by their ornate design and size.
As far as I can remember their surnames sometimes were Pyke - Fortescue.

Antrim / Gillispie or Gillespie Glenarm

Would anyone have some information on Gillispie or Gillespie family from Glenarm? Evidently my Great Grandmother Mary who was born approx 1866 or so , was one of that Family
. She married a William Johnston and they emigrated to Ontario. They subsequently returned and lived in Belfast at 35 Cumberland Street.
How would I get her birth cert?
Thanks.

Hello all who replied.
My sincere thanks to you all. I am currently looking at all the information and will respond shortly.
It is really great to know that there are people out 'there' who want to help others. As a newcomer to the Forum, I am a bit unsure of the process and protocol, so please bear with me.

Canada / Northern Irish families in Carleton County
« on: Wednesday 02 September 09 10:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I wonder if anyone has any info. on whether, in Carleton County , during the mid 1800s, there was a preferred sttlement area for Northern Irish Immigrants.
My great Grandhfather and Grandmother, William and Mary Johnston to Canada around 1860/80 to there and their daughter Sarah Ellen was born there in Carleton County.
I am trying to narrow down my search for their town and any other history that I can unearth from local records.
All help greatly appreciated.
