Cracking photo, Lairdy5.

What a fantastic effort from everyone.  The fact that people are so willing to help is what makes this brilliant hobby so enjoyable.

Well done, all.

Thank you very much jonw65.  I'll keep visiting the site, and place the order as and when I can.

Very much appreciated.

Hi Kate,

I'm sure you have this already, but have you contacted the page editor (bottom left of page) to see if he has anything additional to that you already have?

The Common Room / Family History Magazine - John Henry Loft notes
« on: Wednesday 11 April 18 19:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi all.

I was out and about and reading an article about a family history magazine that was offering the notes of (I think) the Grimsby MP John Henry Loft (1769-1849).  As this chap is my wife's 4x G Grandfather, I would like to establish which magazine it was so that I can order a back issue.

Has anyone seen this (it was a recent issue, I'm sure)?  If so, could you please let me know.

As an aside, Wikipedia shows him as being known for corrupt politics! Nice to see that over the years, we've made progress, eh?  :-\

Thanks, in advance.

Thanks MaxD.

That's a very comprehensive and useful reply.  I shall pass this on to my friend who, I know, will be delighted and grateful.

Hi everyone.

I'm trying to find information on the above individual for a friend.

I have found his medal record card and that gives his service number as 2506.  However, I can't seem to find any other record for him.  I've checked attestation documents, pension records, SWB records and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website but can't find any other mention of him.

I know that lots of WW1 records were losst in WW2, but wonder if anyone can suggest anywhere else for me to have a look at.

Thanks, in advance for your advice.

Hi again Thornwood.
Sadly, I didn't live in the houses at Acombe.  There is an RAF Church Fenton group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/327247141969/ (which is a closed group) but if you contact the administrator of that group, you may get some positive replies.

Kind regards,

Hi Thornwood.
RAF Church Fenton was my first posting in 1980!  It was there long before me and there after I left.  I hope this site helps: http://www.rafchurchfenton.org.uk

Good hunting.
