Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / John Budd 1940-2009

Good afternoon all.

I hope that everyone is keeping safe and well.
My wife recently found this photo of her father and I wonder if anyone could tidy it up and even colourise it.  She doesn't know that I'm doing this so it will, hopefully be a nice surprise for her (or I'll be on the naughty-step (again).

As an aside, John is the Great Grandson of William G Loft (1803-1887) who won the Grand National on Cure All, in 1845.

Thank you, in advance.

Thank you both.  Looking at the whole image again, the occupation and location have been filled in the wrong boxes.  I think I need to take a break!

I've given myself a good talking to  ::)

World War One / Re: Does anyone recognise this war memorial?

Hi Lizzie.
Are you aware of this searchable website?
https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials

Using the filters should get you close to where you need to be (if not in the bullseye!)

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with father's occupation please
« on: Friday 11 January 19 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all.
I'm having difficulty working out the occupation for William Chapman Bradley's father, John.  The document is William C's baptism record (dated 11/06/1820) and the occupation looks like 'Lunt'.  I've not heard of that, and Google is obviously sulking as it's not being too helpful!

Is there anyone who could give me a nudge in the right direction please?
Thanks, in advance.

The Common Room / Re: What did you do on Armistice Centenary Day?

Hi River Tyne Lass.

No, I march with former colleagues from the RAF Squadron I served with. Even more poignent this year with it also being the 100th anniversary of the RAF.

It is always a very humbling experience.  Did you manage to get tickets to march past?

I was privileged to be able to march past the Cenotaph in London.

A proud, yet bittersweet moment, remembering all who gave their life but, in particular, remembering nine of my own friends who were killed in more recent times.

Hi Carol.

Don't know whether it would work, but have you thought about a reverse image search?

There's a few out there, but try this one:https://www.tineye.com/

Good luck.
