Hi Folks,

This Tuesday, the 13th May 2014, our talk is about:

The History of Bromsgrove
by popular local speaker Julian Hunt.

With over 11,000 acres spread over the town and a hinterland of 10 agricultural hamlets, Bromsgrove was large enough to support a weekly market and two annual fairs. Its long High Street had several maltings, tanneries, clothiers' workshops, dyehouses and linen manufactories.

During the 17th and 18th centuries these trades were overtaken by the manufacture of wrought nails, with many nailers building cottages and workshops on former common land like Bournheath and the Lickeys.

Julian will introduce the leading families of the town and concentrate on particular entrepreneurs like John Adams, whose monument in the Cemetery has recently been restored.

So come along and join us and learn about Bromsgrove.

Hi Folks,

This Tuesday, the 11th March 2014, there is our AGM. This is your opportunity to ask questions and let us know which direction you would like the branch to go in.

Following this you are invited to bring your WW1 & WW2 Memorabilia.  You are invited to display it and give the background to it.  (Medals, souvenirs, uniforms, maps, letters, diaries, ration cards, identity papers, etc.)  You have something, but don't know it's significance - then ask the audience.

So come along and join us and learn about what they did.

Durham Lookup Requests / Marriage St. Hilda, South Shields, 1825 WATERS x SCOTT
« on: Wednesday 08 January 14 17:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Folks,

FamilySearch gives a marriage between Alexander WATTERS and Isabella SCOTT on 3rd January 1825, at St. Hilda's.

FindMyPast suggests that Alexander's name was WALTERS.

FamilySearch also has two baptisms as WALTERS

However, I am reasonably sure the above are for the family WATERS.  Alexander becoming a Master Mariner and ship owner.

Please does any one have the actual image of the marriage?

Kind regards

Mike
