Hi

Thank you for the message and the links, i didn't realise Balnamoon was an area  :).  My grans family stayed there for years before moving down to central scotland.

I will need to pop up there one day for a wee nosey  :)

Thanks again  :D

Thank you both for your help  :). I appreciate it.

I think your right and I should start by looking at births at the records office. Both surnames are popular ones so might take a while LOL. I will let you know how I get on  :)

The person with the similar name to my grans (who i thought could be the illegitimate child) has a marriage cert with her name on it.  If it had been her, her name would have been changed when she was adopted?

I think i will need to check all the people with my grans maiden name and married name at the Records Office :-(

Does anyone know of any other Salavtion Army Maternity homes in WW2 probably in the central belt of Scotland, Strling/Edinburgh area or possibly Glasgow?

Thanks :-)

Thanks Monica  :)

I really appreciate your help as i didn't have a clue where to start.  It is really sad as my gran didn't have a choice about giving the baby up.  I will pop through to Edinburgh soon and i will let you know how i get on.

Thanks again :D

Hi

Thank you very much, for your replies i really appreciate it!

I stay near Edinburgh so i could pop through to the records office and have a look  :).  I have seen a name very similar to my grans on Scotlands People but the child was born in Angus.  I didn't realise that i could view more recent certs at the Records Office as I didn't want to spend a fortune ordering various certs etc

Thanks again  :)
