well, thank you - I'm delighted to get a reply, how very kind of you.

So - did he get there or did he not??  I have to keep searching, but have no idea where.

Thank you so much.  Have used this Forum only twice and each time had some helpful news - so I'm very impressed.
Thank you again - so very much.

Europe / Greece: tracing family Papadopulo
« on: Tuesday 13 October 09 16:55 BST (UK)  »
I have found relatives born in the 19th century - they are
Victor Ernest Papadopulo (1869) and John Demetrius Lionel Eugene Papadopulo (born 1973).
Both were fathered by John Papadopulo and Elizabeth Brown - but I have my doubts as to whether they were married.

In 1891 Census I found both boys (name mistakenly transcribed as Papadiels) living with their grandmother, Ann Brown in the Hammersmith area.

From then, no clues - no marriage, no death.  I can speculate, but have no certainty.
Might anyone have any suggestion"

what a treat!
Thank you so very much.
Have spent the last two hours downloading not only John Papadopulo (discharged possibly because he was gay - which in those times might well have caused him to be a problem) -
but also Herbert George Darran - who was my grandfather and had changed his original name, Papadopulo, by Deed Poll as had previously had been discharged because of having 'alien parents'.
Now have to get back to the rest of my Papadopulo family, who have disappeared into the blue with no trace - but I'll keep on trying.
Your help has been invaluable and I can't thank you enough - I hadn't noticed 'next' at the top of the page with my first find.

how wonderful to have a reply so soon!  Thank you so much.

Can you tell me then what was the medical reason for discharge?  Or where I can find that information?
I have printed off a form from Ancestry but all it gives me is his number and name - no age or any background.
However, any break through at all is so very welcome.
Thank you again.

I have found evidence that a Greek relative, John Papadopulo,
was a member of the Territorial Force, the 14th Bn. London Regiment (London-Scottish) in 1916.
Can anyone advise me how to find further information about activities of this battalion and any further notes about my relative?
