Hi Newf and Ricky

Yes I have him on the 1841 1851 and 1861 census  living in Misterton

41 and 51 he is Robert Lane and on the 61 Robert White

He was illegitimate and used both names looks like his father was John Lane of Clayworth and when his wife died  her sister Mary White looked after the children then had four of her own , But it was illegal then to marry your deceased wifes sister.

His wife died in  1866 but i cannot find a death for him on the indexes he may have lived with one of his 14 children by 1871 so may be in another area

Thank you for trying

Regards Lorraine

He was baptised Robert White  married as Robert Lane baptised his first child as White then the rest apart from the last two as Lane when he remaried in 1830 he remarried as White . Took a while to sort this out but have copies to prove it all. Was a good puzzler this one !

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Cracroft/Craycroft
« on: Saturday 14 July 07 23:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Have just discovered another branch in my family tree ELIN CRACROFT mar William Flinder in Gainsbrough 12 April 1737  Looking on the IGI they are linked to Louth  Burgh Le Marsh  ect   . Would be grateful for any information . I will be starting in Gainsbrough parish records as I like to verify all info as I work back so any help would be appreciated.

Looks like their may be some nice unusual names connected to the Cracroft surname  Skegness  Bolle  Quadring Kilburn  ( Will make a change from my very common surnames I have traced in the past  )
Anyone connected ?

Thank you in advance  Lorraine

Hi Casey
????

The John who married Alice X  the first child they had was in 1707 in Sneinton this would make the John baptised 9-7-1671  36 years old before he married  I have all the baptisms burials and marriages for Sneinton and Gedling (For the Flinders surname appropriate to the years we needed)  my sister and myself spent many years visiting the archives but went to Sneinton church to go through the parish registers as at the time they were still held at the church .

I hope we do not have this wrong is there proof that the John son of John and Mary relocated to Donington ?

Also do they have the parents of John who married Mary Spawton listed

Hi Casey

Thank you for the reply

This is what I have so far

John Flinders ( 8X G Grandfather) mar Mary Spawton 8-5-1680 in Gedling

Children X7
John Flinders ( 7X Great Grandfather) bapt 19-12-1682 Gedling Mar Alis?

Children X6
William Flinders ( 6X G Grandfather)  bapt 20-11-1715 Mar Ellen ? (this is the one my original query was about the marriage in Gainbrough)

Children X8

Ann Flinders  (5X G Grandmother) bapt 23-3-1746 Sneinton mar Robert Hutchinson 22-11-1767 Sneinton

Have Been through all Sneinton Parish Records and other parishes  and checked all databases for a marriage for William and Ellen but to no avail  this is why I requested a look up for the one in Gainsbrogh

Thanks again   Lorraine
