Very happy ;D

I now have William on all the censuses except 1901 - I can't find him or any of his family and I know he didn't die until 1903.

Thank you very much for your help.

Have you seen the 1881 census entry for an Elizabeth E Pierce aged 7 and a Beatrice Pierce aged 5 both born in Islington? They are in the household of William Adolphus and both are described as Niece.

Hope this doesn't complicate matters more!

Sorry can't find them in East Street.

Is the address definitely Hoxton?  There seem to be a few streets with the same name in the East End.  Let me know if you want me to try a different area.

If you post any new requests relating to this area I suggest you use the London Board. London and Middlesex are confusing ???

I shoudn't worry too much about the  difference in the way the relationships are described - this is quite common in my experience.  Sister can of course also mean sister in law or step sister.

In this case I would be inclined to try to prove that they are sisters.

Have looked at the 1881 census - where is Beatrice?

I've had a lot of trouble tracking down people on the 1901 census due to the poor transcription.  Still can't find some of them.

Could Augusta senior have married?  In which case Stella (presumably her daughter) could be under another surname.

Having suggested this I have tried and failed to find anyone in 1901 who looks right :(

Incidentally on the 1891 census I think Augusta is shown as a Visitor not Sister - but the writing is a bit difficult to read.

Good Luck

Not quite sure what you want.  I have the 1891 census details if you want those.

The only Whitfield Street I can find on the 1851 and 1861 street indexes is in Shoreditch.
In 1861 there is a Whitefield Street in Pancras but the numbers only go up to 5.  Had a quick look at adjacent roads (in case of renaming) bot no Inglis family.

Have found all the references.

3 are married - born Brighton, Devon and Middx.  1 is with his sister, Emma,  and is a haberdasher b London St Giles.

Which one are you interested in - if any?
