Think Esther died 1863 and James remarried 1866.
I am wondering where the other children of Esther and James are.  Emily may have married but I wonder whether you can find George and Alice in 1871?  Caroline was my main concern as she is my great grandmother.

Thank you Willow - that was quick!

Definitely my family and now I have a shorter time frame for Esther's death.

On the 1861 census I have the Hammond family at 8 Martha Court, Bethnal Green. James aged 36, Esther 31, Emily 9, George 7, Alice 5 and Caroline 1.
Could someone please check whether they are still there in 1871 or possibly at 19 Royston  Street, Bethnal Green (1881 census address)
Esther Hammond may have died by 1871 ; James' second wife was Margaret.
Thank you.

Sorry I can't find them at either address - just like some of my family who seem to have been constantly on the move!
Looks like we'll both just have to wait for a full index of the 1851 census.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: NBI v2 - PURSER
« on: Saturday 22 January 05 18:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Nell

Thank you for looking.

The younger George who was buried in Brampton is the son of George and Hannah and seems to have gone back to Brampton fron London to die - his wife came from Brampton too.  The other George is, from memory, a cousin or nephew. The baby Hannah was a daughter of George and Hannah.
The Purser parents and all their children seem to have left Brampton by 1861 and I have no idea where the parents went.  I have seen some death references on Free BMD which could be them but I was hoping to narrow the search a bit.

Thanks again

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / NBI v2 - PURSER
« on: Saturday 22 January 05 15:11 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone please check whether George and Hannah PURSER appear on the NBI version 2 (I have version 1).
George was born in Brampton Hunts about 1803 and Hannah in Offord Cluny about 1801.  They were on the 1841 and 1851 censuses for Brampton but then disappear from the parish.  Their burials are not in the Brampton PRs.
Thanks in advance.

I can't find any Welton or Plumb families in York Street.

Have you already checked there in the 1851 census?  If not, let me know and I will have a look for them.
