I'm making some assumptions here but the fact they came from Scotland were they Presbyterian? You also mention the Gibson family lived two miles from Canniston, could that be Canningstown as located between Bailieborough and Cootehill? Most Church records only commence 1845 so your dates are a bit early to be included.

Back in the early 1900s there was a shop/pub in Bailieborough, Co. Cavan with the name 'P. Timmins'. I have a photograph that shows the name clearly. However I'm afraid I have no other information.

Katharine, I'm afraid there are no baptismal records in existence going back as far as early 1800. I have access to Presbyterian records for Churches in the Bailieborough area but the baptismal records only commence 1861 and Marriage registers commence 1845. I will find out for you when Methodist records commence and where they can be accessed. Les

Greetings from Bailieborough. There were still Nelson's in Drumacarrow in 1911 as you will see from the 1911 Census.

If you go to Google maps and look up Bailieborough Cavan, from the town take the R165 Cavan road, a short distance on the left you will see Drumacarrow on the map.

Hi, if you look at a google map and find the R191 Cootehill to Bailieborough road and just to the right of the word Latully you will find Dernakesh which I'm sure is the townland you call Dernycash. You will also see Knocknalossett close to Dernakesh. I remember my late mother who was raised in Knocknalossett speak of a Lucas family who lived nearby and when the parents died their daughter went to Australia. Les

Hi, I'm not connected to either family but I was raised in the area so I might be able to point you in the direction of some folk if you email me. I only signed on to this site recently so I'm not able to access your address. Les

Hello, greetings from Cavan. Did you ever manage to track down your Lucas ancestors from Knocknalossett?
