Perhaps this is information you already have but the Hogg's attended Glasleck Presbyterian Church, Shercock. Martha Ann Wilson Hogg was baptised there on March 18th 1880. Her date of birth is recorded as 4th January 1880. She was baptised by the Rev. Thomas Martin. Regards, Les http://www.bailiepublications.com

Cath, the records I have aren't digitised so they are the original fragile books. I did not look earlier than the date you suggested. I had a look now at 1845 and find Randal English son of William and Isabella English, date of birth, 10th October, baptised on 16th October 1845. Baptised by the Rev. Randal McCollum. I would have little doubt but he was named after the minister as the name Randal was uncommon even back then. The Rev. McCollum spent his entire ministry in Glasleck, 1836-1874. The English grave plot is shown on an old garveyard map although no gravestone or marker is located there. It is recorded as the grave plot of James English, Taghart. Regards, Les.

I live in Bailieborough and I'm familiar with Glasleck. There is no record of Randal in the baptismal register but there are other children recorded prior to that date. The Rev. Randal McCollum was a minister in Glasleck at that time. The Presbyterian Church never kept death records. There is no record of the marriage of John Henry English. There is details of Glasleck Church in the Corglass Church history book which will be published shortly: http://www.bailiepublications.com

Hi Denise, do you know what religion they may have been connected with here in Cavan? In the graveyard of Seafin Presbyterian Church there are the following headstones: (1) Erected by Margaret O'Hara, Seefin, In Loving Memory of her beloved father, William also her brother Thomas.
(2) Erected by William O'Hara in memory of his beloved wife Jane O'Hara who departed this life on the first day of January 1894, aged 71 years. Regards, Les. http://www.bailiepublications.com

Hi Cath, I have access to Glasleck Church records. Baptismal commences 1836 and marriage 1845. If you think there might be anything there I can have a look. I'm compiling some history of the church at the moment. I note William English's name appears in some old financial church reports. Regards, Les.
