Many thanks for all your links. Am just trying to get my head around it all.

I had two reasons to want to look at more recent wills. Firstly, I have found using wills to find living relatives a very useful tool as a last resort. Personally I have been trying to find living relatives for quite some time. I have tracked them until about 1980. I know a couple have died in recent years. As I live in the UK it is sometimes difficult to know where or how to access more recent records. I know the privacy laws are quite strict compared to here.
Secondly, as I am a Kiwi living in the UK my local family history group has 'twisted' my arm to do a workshop on researching NZ and Australian records. Consequently, I have been buried in learning about researching in Australia in particular. It has been a huge task looking at the different states. Wills were one of the areas to look at. This research has certainly helped me focus my own research in certain areas.

Can anyone tell me if the public can look at or apply for copies of NSW wills from the last 20 years. If so what sort of information do you have to provide and is there a cost??
I live in UK where we can access this kind of document quite easily. Hope someone can give me some guidance.

2. Inward letter - AG Smaill Applies for position of Engineer with Her Majesties Navy 3 March 1910

Hi Everyone

As I am in the UK, I am looking for some guidance on my research. I have picked this distant relative up from a family tree on An...try with a death date of 7/10/2009. I have looked on the Ryerson index but nothing there. On the tree it says Townsville, Queensland. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on where to search for his burial or cremation. Maybe a Queensland expert can help. I have looked up a few websites with no results. Are there any local papers that may be able to help or does this come under any privacy laws. Any tips would be great.

Hi all
We are trying to 'declutter' and we have a portrait photo of my husband's grandfather presumably taken before he went off to war. It is quite large 20" x 25". I am keeping a digital copy but wanted any advice on what I could do with it. Are there any websites where you can upload the image.
As I am getting rid of it it would be nice to share the image if any organisation keeps them.
Any advice would be great.
