World War One / Australian Imperial Force Enlistment
« on: Thursday 27 September 18 17:34 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone explain what would happen after a person has enlisted? In this case in the AIF in the Great War. Did the recruit immediately join other recruits or did they have to report somewhere on a later date?

The Common Room / Spanish Flu
« on: Friday 06 July 18 22:08 BST (UK)  »
I recently discovered one of my grandmother's siblings died in October 1918 aged 10 years of Spanish Flu. One hundred years on this year. Anyone else lose any family in this way?

Isle of Man / Esther Mylchreest 1839-1930
« on: Friday 01 June 18 19:24 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me whether or not Esther Mylchreest formerly Corrin (1839-1930), died 2 Dec 1930, at 58 Malew Street Castletown, aged 91 years, left a will? If so I might be able to get over to the island later this year and would drop in to view it if there is a will.

Thanks,

Any news about the IOM.com message board and Manx Note Book? Both are not available at the moment.

The Lighter Side / Supermarket Roots
« on: Wednesday 27 September 17 17:01 BST (UK)  »
My Bury ancestors have twice fallen foul to the spread of the supermarket. Where they lived there's now an Asda and where they were buried is now a Tesco's car park ;D

Whereas with other records the "Another Filming" batches tend to be viewable and the other ones not for these records it seems to be the other way round but give them all a try as access conditions can change over time:-
