Donegal / McGinlay/McGinley, Raphoe, Donegal Research Advice?

I was wondering where is best to look online for more information on the McGinlay/ McGinley family from Raphoe ?, Donegal ?  They would appear to be of RC faith.

I made a breakthrough last night for this family by finding my first Irish BDM record on the new Family Search, Ireland, Civil Registration, 1845-1958 website.

I have only found the 1864 birth of an Prudence McGinley the eldest youngest child of seven so far and what appears to be a 1849 marriage certificate for her mother Catherine Spence, husband's name not given.

Marriage look up for Thomas Hill (Sergeant Royal Artillery) Edinburgh C1836 & Mary Sarah Palma Palmer, Gibraltar C1839 B1833.

HAVE JUST FOUND THIS REFERENCE ON FREE BMD 5b 549 for Marriage September 1861 in Stoke Damerel, Devon

Their eldest two chidren were born in Devon, Jessie (Devonport) C1862 & Thomas (Plymouth) C1864.

Looking for a marriage in Devon possibly, but being in the army he would have been stationed all over, as required.

James M Hill c1868 Woolwich, Kent, England. Thomas Hill (Father), Mary-Sarah Palmer (Mother)

Would like to know if birth certificate gives father's occupation as a soldier and which regiment etc.

NB. Information supplied from 1881 Census in Edinburgh.

99% of my relatives are Scottish  ;)   so  I have not yet accessed the English records so far.

Thomas Hill c1837 born in Edinburgh listed in 1881 Census Midlothian as a Chelsea Pensioner.
Married to Mary-Sarah Palmer c1834 who was born in Gibralter.

Please advise regarding researching his military service etc ?
 
They had two children c1868 Kent & c1870 Donegal.
