Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photos-I need help
« on: Friday 25 December 09 11:00 GMT (UK)  »
I have received my parents photo collection and I need help.

I'm not sure how to go about this. My mum took a lot of photos out of albums and I have no idea how to put them back in order.

She had Alzheimer's and used photos to remember people and events. I have 6 tubs of photos. The ones I can remember or people I remember I have put aside, but I have a whole pile of photos of people I think I might be related to but have no idea how to figure out who they are.

I'm not even sure where to post this topic. My parents are both from Leicestershire, the photos don't need restoring.

I just wonder if I post a few images people will be able to help me with dates and places.

Merry Christmas luv Ted

The Common Room / I think I will be booted
« on: Friday 11 December 09 08:38 GMT (UK)  »
I wanted to say sorry today to two people I tried to help.

Apparently I am too accurate.

I am sending every member of this site an apology.

I am a very experienced publisher and printer who has been accused of  breeching copyright on this site.

I am new to this site, and while I was hoping for help with my family tree, realized that I could help others with their research.

I have, however, been blamed of breaching the law of copyright. Even though I typed all I researched myself.

I was genuinely trying to help other researchers who use this site.

I don't want to get booted from this site. I have made so many friends here who've helped me find my family and I want to help other people find their families.

So to JP, Netgirl, matt, loopy Vic, Victor and many others, I can promise you I did nothing wrong. I did not breech copyright laws but I have had things removed from this wedsite.; So If I get booted you know why.

Love you guys thanks for all your help. Love Ted

The moderator might make me the next thing to be removed?

What is copyright?
Copyright is a type of property that is founded on a person's creative skill and labour. It is designed to prevent the unauthorised use by others of a work, that is, the original form in which an idea or information has been expressed by the creator.

He was born 5 May 1843 in Ashby de la Zouche.

I can't find him on the 1851 Census

I'm hoping someone can help so I can confirm the family I've found on the 1861 census is the correct one.

Family History Beginners Board / I'm new and Australian with all English ancestors
« on: Saturday 07 November 09 08:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and on the other forums I belong to, there is a place where we introduce ourselves but I wasn't sure where to introduce myself on this one.

I have been tracing my family tree for 2 years. All of it is in England. I was born on the Wirrel and my parents emigrated.

So I have Gadsby's, Neals and Farmer's from Leicestershire and Pearsons from Nantwich and Fitchett's who were canal people.

I have a 4 x gr grandmother who was an unmarried mother who managed to keep all of her children (except that she and 3 of them ended up in the workhouse at one stage).

So anyway, I just wanted to say hello, and hope I can help people the way I've been helped with my tree over the years.

Cheers Ted
