Australia / Re: Billy Freeman - Convict. What was he doing between 1837 - 1840?
« on: Sunday 05 March 23 12:49 GMT (UK)  »
Well we went to where Billy was born (Freshford, UK)  and we went where Billie died (Macclesfield SA).

We followed his sons up the Murray to Echuca.

WW1 & 2 vets.

So proud of the little boy who stole 2lb of cheese, and became a Convict.

I think the only thing I can add to Billy's walk is - This is Real Australian History.

How do I thank you all.

It's been 10 years since I last read this thread.

Such amazing people you all are to help me and my hubby find his 4 x great grandfather.

To all who helped and cared we found Billy in his unmarked grave.

And traced the footsteps of his sons up the Murray.

Cheers, Ted

You have got me on the right track. I didnt think of the fittings.

I only know that my Sons grandma is 96 and she always said it was her grandmas.

Extensive family history says that both her Grandmas were married in Australia.

When I figure out how - I will upload a photo

Hi Everyone,

I know this is an old post but I thought my friends in Rootchat Land would like an update on Lexiedog and myself.

I have just spent the weekend with her.

What an amazing friendship created through a combined love of family history and this website.

We have talked none stop for 2 days and we have so much in common.

Thank you again everyone for all your help finding our mutual ancestor and helping to form what I am sure will be come a life long friendship.

Luv to all, Ted

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / 19 messages from Ancestry in one day
« on: Saturday 15 August 20 06:24 BST (UK)  »
I have had 19 messages from Ancestry today.

I checked the first 5 and they all wanted my email address to send photos or documents.

All are new members? Is it my lucky day or is it a scam?????
