Thank you very much again, Alli. The burial information has been particularly helpful. I wonder if you could possibly help me with some information for the following couple:

William CHRISTIAN (b. c.1822) and his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" (b c.1824). They were living at Old Leake, in Lincolnshire, in the 1851 census. They had no children at that time. I haven't been able to find any further information on them. Can you possibly tell me whether there is any burial information which might be relevant. William's brother Charles emigrated to Australia in 1854, so I think there is a good chance that William and Betsy may have also emigrated, but I haven't been able to find any evidence of them arriving or living in Australia, so I wonder whether William may have died, and perhaps Betsy remarried.

Any clue at all would be much appreciated.

Best wishes,
Marc

Bedfordshire Completed Look ups / Re: 1841 Census - Thurleigh - CLAYTON

Hi David,

Thank you very much for all of that most helpful information.

I was interested to see whether young John was present, as I had two birth dates for him, one was c.1839 and the other was c.1844. I had wondered whether there might have possibly been two children of that name, but you have cleared it all up with the burial information. It seems that he was probably born at the later date, possibly around the time his mother died (Q Sep 1844).

Thanks again,

Kind regards,

Marc

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 Census - Tiddington/Albury - RADFORD
« on: Tuesday 25 October 05 17:28 BST (UK)  »
Could I please request a lookup in the 1841 census for the following family?

John RADFORD (no details known)
Penelope RADFORD (born c.1786, possibly at Long Crendon BUCKS - widowed living in Albury in 1851)

their known children;
Thomas RADFORD (b. c.1816, married 1836 settled in Albury)
Elizabeth (b. c.1817, unmarried living with mother in 1851)
Emma (b. c.1819, married in Thame District in 1842)
Rebecca (b. c.1821, possibly married in Thame District in 1842)
James (b. c.1830, unmarried living with mother in 1851)

The main points I'm trying to find at the moment are; whether the father John RADFORD was still alive in 1841, any information about him, and whether there may have been any other children.

Any information about children in the area not living with John and Penelope in 1841 would be considered a very welcome bonus.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Marc Roberts

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Census - Surfleet/Gosberton - Susan CHRISTIAN
« on: Thursday 06 October 05 14:41 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both very much indeed. I'm not sure whether it is reasonable to assume that the family was still at the same location (Hammond Beck Bank) despite the different location names (Surfleet in 1841, and Pinchbeck in 1851). But I guess they hadn't moved too far away.

I'm pretty sure Susannah was not an accountant :-)
I wonder whether it may have been "annuitant". Her husband William was recently deceased and she may have received some kind of benefit from his will. Just guessing here. In 1861 she was described as a charwoman and was working as a servant for an elderly farmer near Pointon.

Thanks again for the terrific assistance.

All the best,
Marc
