Jim, thanks for taking the time to have a look and for the suggestions, most helpful.

As you say he would have had to do something (probably a little quickly) either marry her or scarper.
The more i think about it the more comfortable I'm becoming with it, in that it 's making more sense. Also gives reason for George being born in Hull, before they move back to Aston.
Think I'll now look for a birth cert for Fred in Lowestoft and hopefully confirm Daniel as father. Think also a little more research may find the link between Daniel & George (possibly brothers?).

Kev.

Cheers Jim,

Looks like I may have been editing as you posted and think I'm coming to the same conclusions as you. well at least it makes some sense, though I'm having a little difficulty with Knight & Knights - though accent may come into it.

Cheers Jim,

No unfortunatly it's not Daniel, would have been great if it was. Father is listed as George Knights (Labourer).
Fred is listed as being 26 and Elizabeth age 21 on the marriage cert in 1895.
Elizabeth's father is listed as James Allen (labourer).

Witnesses on the cert are Reuben Baker & Martha Sharp - not sure if this helps but can find a record for two possibles from Aston of similar ages to Fred & Elizabeth - now clutching at straws, theres quite a few others of those names listed as well.

Not sure if it's of any significance but on the certificate all the writing is done by the one person - even the bit for the bride & groom to sign (not even an 'x' to signify mark?)

Interestingly there's an Elizabeth Allen listed in Warwickshire with father James Allen in 1881 also interestingly there's a George Knights listed as being a fisherman born Lowestoft as well, wonder if Daniel the Lowestoft fisherman with the Fred Knights is related to fisherman George -  :'(

Hence why I'm not sure if it's the right one. What with the wrong spelling of the surname & the apparently wrong ages, unless of course they have lied to cover the fact she was so young (& possibly pregnant?) & the name gets written down wrongly through accent? - even more straw clutching.

Kev.

Forgot to mention, appears George doesn't make it to 1911, he's no longer listed with Fred & Elizabeth.

Again many thanks for the help.

Jim - he does reafirm Suffolk, Lowestoft as his birthplace in 1911.

I have been through the census's many times looking for Frederick Knight without success, thought there maybe one possibility in a Frederick Knights that's listed, hoping it may be read as Knight (if I squint etc.  :))  he's listed as a fisherman in Lowestoft and so is his father (along with some brothers + what would be his mother has a typical occupation associated with the fishing trade as well for a bonus), all would fit very well if it's a trancription error & I can find a link - hence why I hoped there would be a marriage record with hopefully father's name listed.

Did find a marriage for a Fred Knights & Elizabeth Allen in Hull at the right time, thought it too much of a coincidence so ordered the cert. hoping for a small trancription error. Doesn't look like it, certainly Knights and the ages are wrong for both Fred & Elizabeth, although Fred is a fisherman.

Many thanks
Kev.

Thanks for the quick replies.

In 1911 they indicate they have been married 15 years. Married in 1895/6?

As far as the census indicates George was there son (well certainly Fred's).  George also on the scene in 1895/6  Hmmm! Elizabeth does appear to be very young when she marries.

Warwickshire / Marriage Knight/Allen in Aston?

Have hit a brick wall with this one, wondering if anybody has any ideas where to look.

Trying to find a marriage of Frederick Knight (b. Lowestoft) to Elizabeth Allen (b. Birmingham) though haven't a clue where they married & in what year exactly.
Frederick d.o.b. is unknown as on 1901 census he listed as being born around 1868 living in Aston with Elizabeth, on 1911 he lists himself as being born around 1862? living in Hull with Elizabeth & family.
Elizabeth is at least consistant being born around 1878.
Wouldn't be surprised if they had married in a catholic church.

The above names come from my Grandfathers birth certificate another Frederick Knight (b. Aston 18/7/1899) He was registered in Aston, sub district Duddleston. At the time they are listed as living 209 Gt Francis Street, Aston.

They had an elder son George born around 1895/6 (from census). After George & Fred they moved to Hull where they had further sons.

My mother believes he was a fisherman from Norfolk/Suffolk which fits with census info, though not in 1901 when he was living in Aston with Elizabeth & his family. Also my mother believes there was an Irish connection through Elizabeth somewhere along the line. She also thinks there was a building firm connection, family story suggests something to do with the early days of Tarmac.

Many thanks for looking and for any help/suggestions.

Hi Kaysii

Thanks for the reply, think the Edmund that died in 1925 is not our Edmund, from census records this Edmund married Alice and was from Norway. They had a son Edmund born in Hull who was about the right age, but from 1911 census he was single and we know our Edmund married in 1906.

Interesting about the Amund and that he could of anglicised it, would be nice if he hasn't Anglicised it and had been born an Edmund if it's not such a common name.

Thanks again for the suggestions, Kev.

We have hit a brick wall with this particular relative, any help would be much appreciated, although we realise there's not a lot to go on.

Only definite record I have is that Edmund Edward (Edvard?) Andersen married Ada Ann Barton in Hull, Yorkshire, UK in 1906. Unfortunately on the marriage certificate Edmunds father wasn't listed.
Family recollections believe that he was a fisherman and was originally from Denmark.
I have tracked down some local fishing crew lists that have E E Andersen listed on various vessels at the beginning of the 1900's. From the crew lists Edmunds possible birth was around the period 1881 to 1885. All fishing records indicate place of birth as Denmark, a couple of records also include Copenhagen.
Unfortunately Edmund wasn't listed on the 1911 UK census but his family were - he was possibly at sea on the night.
Children born upto around 1915, his wife Ada died 1926 and shows her as a widow.

Many thanks, Kev.
