Damp Damaged Photograph

I have this old photograph of my 2 x Great Grandmothers brother, Nicholas Mutton, that has been damaged by damp mold from poor storage.  Having seen the excellent restoration skills on here I wondered if anything could be done for him

This is a tough one. I can't wait to see everyone else's attempts.

Here's a tip, look at the color channels and you will see yo can take bits and pieces from the different channels and then blend the parts together. That's what I did anyway. I will be interested to know how everyone else goes about it.

Wow, I knew there'd be some clever people out there who could help, he's looking much more human now.  Thanks for everyones attempts so far 

With regards to rescanning it, the original is with my Auntie unfortunately.  This copy is on my hardrive having copied it using my digital camera.
