Snelston. Derbyshire /Notts

 Hi 
      On the 1901 Census it tells me my John Hough was born in Snelston Notts and the 1881 census tells me Snelston Derby for his wife, i have done a search and Snelston comes up in Derbyshire. Does any one know which it is or do i just go with Derbyshire

Hello Lynn,

Snelston is in Derbyshire, it is 3 miles NE of Ashbourne.  There is a Selston in Nottinghamshire but if you have the same spelling on two different census returns then it must be correct.
