Hi Keith: I haven't had any luck with posting on the occupations board but I did find a record of his marriage to Fanny Maddock at Pancras in 1879 on free BMD so I will get a marriage license and check it out to get his fathers name. I have a feeling that the 1871 John from Kneesworth and the 1861 John in Bassingbourn are the same person. Would it be possible to find them on the 1851 census?

Hi Keith: It looks like we have the right one. I have the marriage license and it says his fathers name was John and although it's a little hard to read, I think it gives his fathers occupation as a maltster which is the occupation he gave on one of the census's. If you want I could send it to you by PM so you can check it out
