Hi John

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you had a look at all the usual general resources I tend to suggest?  ;)

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,83852.0.html

You could also look at these Sligo specific sites which may help.

Perhaps you would like to have a look at these resources to see if there is anything that might help you.

Please come back with any further queries or to let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Hello jpcjohncullen

Griffiths Valuation - Sligo 1858 Easky Parish shows that there were a number of families named Kilcullen but none named Cullen.    www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/sligo/easky.php

In Irish Genealogy, Francis Cullen is the father of the groom James Cullen who married Mary Joyce in 1873 in Easky

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Can you provide us with a URL link to the marriage of James Cullen to Mary Joyce, please?

www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

This is the official site in ireland where births deaths and marriages are located. The registration areas can be confusing, as county sligo has several, dromore west being for the western side including easkey, tubbercurry for the southern side, sligo for the main area and boyle for the eastern side

when you enter the site opt for the civil records. The more recent records are not available on the internet, you have to attend in person at the offices.

The original query is from 2005 so the person who started the thread may already have found the information they were looking for.

It helps if you post a link to information found as it saves others from having to duplicate the search to find the details. I searched for the marriage using both the names Mary Joyce and James Cullen without finding it. I also tried using just the surnames but again no result.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Concur with aghadowey.

Searching the civil records does not provide a marriage record for the Cullen/Joyce marriage in 1873 in Dromore West S.R.D.

some months back I did a trawl through the available records on line for the cullen marriages up to 1900 in the registration district of dromore west and 15 marriages came up including the one in question. On doing the same search now several of these are missing, as well as one being in triplicate.I dont understand it. I have a record of these 15 marriages should anyone require them
