Is anyone able to clean this photo up?
« on: Saturday 29 October 05 07:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,

This photo is the last one my mother has of her father taken 1965. It is now worse for wear.  Is anyone able to clean it up for us? She would prefer if it was left black and white and not coloured.

Thanks so much,
I appreciate any efforts,
Holly

Hello Holly,
I had a quick go but I'm not very happy with the results  :(
Could you provide another scan at a higher resolution?  The more detail the better.
Cheers  :)

Hi Prue,

Thanks for trying. As there is a limit on files here at rootschat. I am uploadinga 300dpi to a website now and will post the link when available.

Wow, I didn't notice in the small version, but he has a skeleton in his left hand. I thought it was a pen. I think thats a knife in his right hand but I have no idea what the wire thing is. what a curious photo.

I saw the skeleton too, but I couldn't get it any more defined than it is now.  To me it looks like either a Christmas or birthday gift haul, which he's very happy with!  ;D  I reckon the boxes are board games or some such, but still no idea what the weird thing is in the same hand as the knife  ???

Hi Prue, did you download the file from the link? This is a cool way to get people to send their Tiff files. It is supposed to stay on the server for seven days and a certain number of downloads. I wonder what the download limit is?

Arn't you two good detectives :D

I have checked with mum and this photo was taken on his 43rd birthday. The skeleton he holds in his hand was a present my then 13 year old mother gave him to hang on the mirror of the car they had just got. In the box is some new shirts, and the book and pen on his chest were for him to write down measurements notes etc on his bricklaying jobs. In the same hand as the knife are a pair of black and white gym boots.
