Now why should Amos be at home and unmarried if he married Mary Ann Pownall in 1870?
I can't find Amos in 1881 either. But Mary Ann is housekeeper to her brother - was he recently widowed perhaps?
Then by 1891 Amos must have died as Mary Ann is remarried
