Births or baptisms, Deaths & Marriages Exchange - Link
« on: Sunday 30 October 05 12:30 GMT (UK) »
I'm not quite certain how this site works but am sure it should prove a useful site ... Vicki Lindsay Thauvin's Irish Births or baptisms, Deaths & Marriages Exchange. The goal of the Ireland Births or baptism, Deaths and Marriages Exchange is to provide to genealogists a free resource for sharing information about details which are contained on birth or baptismal, death and marriage certificates registered in Ireland

The % wildcard character can be used to match unknown portions of a name eg.

Sm%th  (will bring up Smith or Smyth)
Sm%  (will bring up all names starting with Sm)
S% (will bring up all names starting with S)

You can use this with either the husband's name or the wife's name.

Otherwise, you can search by the first letter in the husbands name, or search through all husband's names page by page.

Elder, Stewart, Johnston, Baskerville, Marks, Carson, Leitch, Bulloch, Thomson, Allen, Campbell, Gordon, Murray, Kelly, Chambers, Black, Cheyne, Youngson, Williamsdaughter, Anderson, Briggs, Pirie, Clark, Philp, Mannel, Lander, Rough, Lean, Bate, Brown, Oliver, Kitt, Shards, Bennet, Young, Petrie, Wylie, Herbertson, Martin, McAlister, Best, Ginn, Ross, McIntosh, McGillivray, Russell, Pettigrew, Fyfe, Barrie

If you truly are an aristocrat, perhaps you could help a humble serf(er) to find his Crowley ancestors. For example, I have John Crowley (born Ireland c1816), listed on the Bradford census of 1851 with his wife Jane (born Ireland c1811).  Jane was formerly Jane Seymour which suggests that it may not be her maiden name and she was perhaps a widow when she married John.  All I know is that I'm struggling, can you help?

Hi Sharon

Thanks for you comment.  I realise what a difficult task I've set myself, but I'm prepared to try anything.
