Typhoid outbreak - Lewes
« on: Monday 31 October 05 15:52 GMT (UK) »
Can any one tell me when there was a typhoid outbreak in Lewes.
Mid 1800's I am led to believe.

Many thanks for any help

Hi

No knowledge of Lewes, but Cholera was in Brighton in the summer of 1849.  200 fatal cases.

I don't know if it is of any interest to you but my great-great aunt died of typhoid fever, aged 8, in September 1876 in Chiltington which is close to Lewes.
