Heather!
Where did you see that Margaret died?! I have her listed as being born in Speymouth, Moray, Scotland about 1838. Of course I don't have it written down where I found that information. So now I am totally perplexed!
As far as where they have been in Scotland, I have the following:
John - Birth & Death - unknown
Jannet - Born, 1802, Urquhart, Moray, Scotland
              Died, 1876, Elgin, Moray, Scotland
William- Born, 1827, Elgin, Moray, Scotland
Agnes - Born, 1829, Burghead, Scotland
             Died, 1871, Elgin, Moray, Scotland
James - Born, 1831, Cromarty, Ross&Cromarty, Scotland
John - Born, 1833, Drainie, Moray, Scotland
Died, 1893, At sea So. Amer.
George - Born, 1835, Drainie, Moray, Scotland
              Died, 1855, Elgin, Moray, Scotland
Margaret - Born, about 1838, Speymouth, Moray, Scotland
David - Born, 1842, Drainie, Moray, Scotland
Jessie - Born, 1845, Drainie, Moray, Scotland

Ok, now that I have it all listed like this, I just might have entered my information in the wrong spot. So if that be the case THEN Margaret didn't live very long. Darn.
Ok, well, it still looks like the family would of been in Drainie, Moray, Scotland in 1841.
So, yes, if you should happen to run across the BIRTH date of Margaret, that would be helpful.
Thanks ever so much for your time and effort!
Valerie

Newspaper Articles

Newspaper Description  Date  Page/Column
COURANT  death 12/11/1926  1/1

I can look  up the newspaper for you and also do a 1851 census lookup

Here's what I found for 1841

John Crow  age 40 Coastgaurd  N
Janet 39     age 39                      Y
William        age 10                      N
Agnes         age 10                      Y
John            age 8                        Y
George        age 6                        Y
Margaret      age 4                        Y

Y=yes for being born in the county
N=for not being born in the county
James is missing from the 1841 census.

They stayed in Lossiemouth which comes under Dranie.   Also John Crow Snr died before 1876 so any other census will give us an idea when he died.  If it is before 1855 then I will be able to look for it.

Wow!  :D
Heather, this is great!
Ok, I did see that record on Margaret BUT since it doesn't list parents, I was reluctant to use it. So if that is her, then she did live for a long time and never married.
Yes, if you can look up the newspaper, that would be wonderful! I don't know how to go about finding the newspaper information online.
Thanks again for all your wonderful help!

Hi Valerie

The newspapers are not on line they are on film and it wouldn't take seconds to find the death.

Hello

Here is wha the death notice it's not a lot and doesn't help:-

Elgin Courant - 12 November 1926

Crowe-at Glaschoile Granton on the 1st inst Margaret Crowe.

I coudn't find a birth for Margaret and was told that Granton would come under Highland.

Here are some of your births:-

John Crow 7 July 1833 Dranie
Winesses- John Main Preventive-man, William Ross Preventive-man both Lossiemouth.

George Crow 27 July Baptised 6 August 1835
Witmesses Mr George Flett Cheif Officer of Coastguard Lossiemouth, James Largie shipmaker Montrose, Clemetina McKenzie Burghead.

I can get Anges and James bith for you but the 1841 census says that William was not born in the county do you know hwre he was born?

Thanks Heather!
I was afraid that maybe the newspaper wouldn't be very helpful. I did notice that they spelled Crow with an 'e' and what does "1st inst" mean?
Thanks for the effort! Geneaology is never easy!
Thanks for the information on John and George, it is interesting to see who was around helping the family. Also I didn't have George as being born in July but in August!  :P(Another correction to be made!) I also somehow didn't have full dates on them just the months and year. Thanks for helping me fill in some blanks!
Yes, William was born in Tarbat by Fearn, Ross & Cromarty on 5 May 1827. William is my 2nd great grandfather, in case you were interested.
Thanks again for all your wonderful helpfulness with my family tree!

Hello Valerie

inst is short for instant it means she died 1 November 1926.  I did notice that they had added the "e" to the name.

I will get the other two childrens births it is always inresting to find out who was the witnesses as they could be relations.

It was a pleasure to help you.
