Stuntney
« on: Sunday 04 January 04 16:36 GMT (UK) »
Several of my ancestors originated from the village of Stuntney, my great great grandfather - Ernest Wilden - was the blacksmith there.  There were several Fretwells living in Stuntney in the 1800's, of which I am distatnly related, would love to hear from anyone who has any information on the people in 'old Stuntney'! ::)

Hi Karen
If you look at my website http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.walker10/
there are the names of the children who attended Stuntney School from 1868-1901 and dates of admission. You are right there are lots of Fretwells ;D

My mother was born in Stuntney. she was an Utteridge and I went to school in Ely with quite a few Fretwells. Are you looking for anyone in particular?

My great grandmother was Charlotte Fretwell, her father was called John, and her mum Anne, although her mum had died before 1881.  She had a couple of brothers.  I am just interested in her father, I know he originated from Norfolk but don't know anything about his parents.  There was also a William Fretwell living in the area at the same time, who also originated from Norfolk, so not sure if they were related.

My link with Stuntney is through the Chevells. Richard Sanders Chevell, son born 1822 was son of John Chevell who was son of Thomas Chevil, I think. Richard is my gg grandfather.
