Hinton Charterhouse parish records
« on: Sunday 29 August 04 18:28 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if there are parish records somewhere for Hinton Charterhouse (St John the Baptist). I am looking for John Smith and his wife Edith. They were both born in nearby Limpley stoke(Wilts) but last hit was 1861 Census when they were in Hinton Ch. then aged 50 and 51 respectively.
I was wondering if they were buried there. Iwent to the graveyard recently but lots of the old tombstones had been removed or had sunk into the ground so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can access the records?
O'Connell, Robinson, Conway, Cunningham (Liverpool and Ireland)
Smith, Vallis, Fry (Somerset), Horrocks (London), Neighbour (Bucks).

Parish registers for most Somerset parishes (including Hinton Charterhouse) are held at the county records office in Taunton. You will need to visit unless you want to pay a fairly hefty search fee. Check out their website on www.somerset.gov.uk/archives for more info.
