Somerset 1851 and/or 1861 census request please
« on: Monday 30 August 04 08:39 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Michael Kirby ( Sometimes known as William) It's hard to pin point his age as the later  census differ from 1822 to 1827. His marriage cert gives of FULL age ( very unhelpful ) and death cert gives a calculated year of 1829.

SO............. I am looking for a Michael/William KIRBY born in Ireland ( poss Pallas Green County Limerick . One census recorded Pontypool Monmouth - I don't think so HOWEVER if there is one that matches I'll not rule it out) who would have been married by 1861 to Ellen REES who was born Coleford GLS 31st July 1836. They married in BATH in 1859 were they had their first child Ellen H KIRBY June 1860 ( Weston BATH)

Michael KIRBY had a brother James KIRBY married to a poss Mary. They were childless and are mentioned in a rather old document I have and place the above family and them  in 1863 in Bristol. James was a fish seller.

I'd greatly appreciate a search for either 1851 or 61 please on any of the above family - I honestly hope I have given as much info as I can ( indeed that I have ) .

Thank you very much for your time : )
For every ancestor I find , I have to find two more.

Hi Di

Many many thanks for that look up - the Micael Kirby you found is mine I am sure of it as on every census I've seen and on BMD's it states his occupation as a Gardener.

My gut feeling is that it's not my James as he is older that michael and would have been born in Ireland too.

Would it be too much to ask for another Kirby to be looked up in the same time zone and area please? I came across this name on a solicitors letter dated 1877. Again no dates or places of birth but again another brother who was also a fish seller in Bristol RICHARD KIRBY poss of Irish birth too.

Thank you once again for the time and trouble you have taken it's greatly appreciated .

Much happiness

Hi Daisy, I am afraid the only Richard Kirby I could find was aged 23 occupation Groom, born in Northants and living in Charlton Kings in Gloucestershire.
Best wishes
