My Major Irish Brickwalls
« on: Monday 05 January 04 01:18 GMT (UK) »
These two ladies have created a lot of difficulty for me in terms of family history!!! ... Martha appears on some birth records as being Martha BURNS FAGAN (she married Thomas SMITH in Australia)

FEGAN, Martha b approx 1789 convicted in 1815 in Dublin, Ireland transported to Australia arrived aboard the AlexanderII in 1816.

KEAN, Frances b approx 1836 from Wicklow, Ireland arrived Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) Australia aboard the Woodcote in 1856.  The Woodcote carried 'Bounty Immigrants' to Australia.  Frances KEAN was sponsored by Samuel Cogden. (Frances married Samuel SMITH son of Martha and Thomas)

Essex: PLAYLE, WHITEHEAD, PAWSEY, FARRAR, HYMUS

Try some variant surnames on KEAN - KEARN, KEARNS, and even CAIRNS

Stick as close as possible to Kean. Try Cain or Keane. There were Keanes in Co. Wicklow in the 1870s.

I think I might have missed this message Christopher  :)

Sorry :)

I think my Kean's may have been in Wicklow early 1800's.

Thanks for the response :)
