Pauline,

I think microfiche is around 6"x4", with a single page unit about the size of half a British postage stamp - but I'm not sure!

I'm certain that microfiche is postcard-sized; I just couldn't visualise how many images were on it. I'll be really chuffed if this idea works! Save the expense of a viewer or library trips.

Hi there

Standard Microfiche are a bit smaller than 6 x 4 and they usually contain 98 frames of data - each frame being shrunk down to half an inch by quarter of an inch.
Each frame is an A4 page of text/images/etc.
I think you will find the images are to small for your scanner (i tried it without success a long time ago)
But who knows, technology has advanced since then.

Incidentally I also bought my viewer from MBI - Trevor Parker, and received a very quick and helpful service - only trouble is I haven't used the viewer yet!

Is MBI a website? if so, can you let me know the url please.

We managed to get a reasonable scan of full-page text, and of line drawings (Parish Maps as it happens). Unfortunately, it wouldn't work on the columns of data in the name indexes. Came out like n-th generation photocopies (n>10).

Back to the library.
