1891 Cenus lookup Griffiths

Hi all

Am trying to find a Annie Gwendoline Mary Griffiths born about 1884 in Glamorgan, her father would be Evan Griffiths,  as recorded on her marriage entry in 1911, at this time the family are living in Llanmaes and the father is a Ship Carpenter

There is a possibility, but can I check - does the marriage cert say whether Evan is deceased?  I have a widow Ann with a daughter Ann in Canton in 1891...

Just copying your PM - it is best to put the info here as others can then use it to look (I hope! - help!!!)

I have 3 children which the family can rememeber and they are Annie griffiths, Blanche griffiths and a Sybil Morgan, i only have a birth for Annie of c 1884,

the family seem to think that Blanche or Sybil or both were born after 1901,

I can not find any of them in the 1901 census index, so they must be,

I didnt know if the sybil morgan was evans second marraige or his wifes second marriage ,

But on the marrige cert it gives Annies husband as being  desc, but not Annies

so think he was alive in 1911

I cannot quite follow how Sybil would have a different surname (MORGAN) unless her mother had remarried?

I think if there is any chance you can get more information from living rellies, I would do that.  The names involved are just too "popular" in Wales to pin the family down.

I tried looking for Evan by occupation in 1881, by the way.

I still like the widowed Ann in 1891, as she has a boarder who is a shipwright (name of BAWLING).

Let me know if you can find out anything else.

My line of thinking about Sybil having a diffrent name was that annies mother could have married this morgan chap after evans death  and he already had a daughter sybil,,

but you have found them .. Great..

What does (sic) mean by the name, this certainly seems to fit, with Annie Mother comming from llanames,  Is Edwin another name for Evan?

In 1901 annie is living with her aunt Joanna morgans in Llanmaes whom was postmistress, and Annies husband was a postman this is how they must have met,

I cant seem to fit in where the daugher Sybil came from unless she was not annies sister but her cousin, the family cant seem to remeber how she really fits in
