Can you give more details, ie dates, any other information.
Sir John Bennet of Cheapside is not enough information to go on really.
If you post more info, adresses for Sir John, dates, any family mamebers, how Joseph is realted to John, etc, somebody may be able to help you,
Regards,
Claudia

See this site!

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gloverhoward/bennett1.htm

The second page contains particular information about John Bennett b. 1814.  He died 1897 and left a will bequeathing his goods not to his wife Agnes but to Aimee Guilbert, a woman by who he had seven illegitimate children!

I think Aimee is in the 1881 as 'Annie Gilbert'; she's in Tonbridge, Kent, with children Lionel (aged 12, b. Richmond), Violet (11, b. Germany), Rose (7, Richmond), Horace (4, Richmond) and 'Geralet' (3, Richmond), claiming to be a widow.  Rose Bennett Guilbert, Horace John Guilbert, and Gerald Munro Guilbert all show up on freebmd in Richmond for the appropriate years.

Hi Izabel,
I'm new to Rootsweb so forgive me if you did get the message I sent yesterday, only I can't see it on the board.  Anyway just to let you know my family is related to Sir John Bennett of Cheapside the watch and clockmaker to Queen Victoria. He was my father's great grandfather's brother.  I do have information of the Bennett tree but I notice it was a while since you posted this info so I'm presuming your friend has all the info.  Anyway if I can help just let me know.

Cheers,

Wendy
