Another McGregor!
« on: Wednesday 16 November 05 21:00 GMT (UK) »
My McGregors are a Janet who married Archibald France (a blacksmith) on 11.09.1814. She died in Stirling in 1862 (Murray Place).  Her father was given as Peter McGregor Chelsea Pensioner and was alive in 1814.
I'd be really grateful for any further information on either.

Many thanks.

Hi Rapunzel,

If Peter McGregor was a Chelsea pensioner, his discharge papers may be found by searching The National Archive Catalogue.  If you have an idea of his regiment, dates of service or where he was born it will help no end.  I have done a quick search (Department WO97 also WO121) and there were 7 Peter McGregors. I could not narrow it down further, without more detail.  The documents are not available on-line but they can be ordered on-line and posted to you.  The TNA will give a quote for this before you place the order.

Hope this helps,
Ore Dragon

Hi Rapunzel,

In1841 Census there is an Archibald (blacksmith) and Jannet France living in Fowlis Wester, Perthshire.
They have three children Ann, Lane and Mary.

Could this be your Janet McGregor?
