Birth cert - Merriott
« on: Thursday 17 November 05 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I have a birth certificate for my G-Grandmother born in Merriott in 1889.

'When & Where born: Fourth March 1889, Merriott, n s d' (it looks like 'n s d')

Would anyone be able to explain what 'n s d' stand for? I am a bit stuck here.

Thanks in advance

Hello acceber,

I think its probably 'USD' for Urban Sanitary District.

John

thanks, but this is unlikely as merriott is a small rural village.

it is in the Rural Sanitary District of Chard but this wouldn't make sense of the birth cert.
