Mixed up family 1841 Any suggestions please.
« on: Saturday 19 November 05 15:39 GMT (UK) »
After finally finding my WILLIAM ANTHONY born c.1825 I am now baffled about the household.
I know the relationships are not listed in the 1841 and wondered if anybody had any ideas.
William appears as a 15 year old labourer with a Hannah Anthony aged 30.  I know that this age could be suspect, but she has another probable son in the household named William.

1841.

William Anthony             15  lab
Wm King?                       45
Elizth Young                   25

All born in the county.

I did find who I think is Hannah in 1861 with her two sons

1851 census

Islingotn
Anna Anthony Head widow aged 45 born Islington Labourer
Thomas Anthony Son aged 18 Unmarried Labourer born Islington
William Anthony Son aged 14 born Islington
Various visitors at the address

I was thinking possibly that Hannah Anthony could maybe be an Aunt of my William ?  Other than that any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Brenda

At first I thought she could be a sister but more likely a sister-in-law.  She could also be a cousin or cousins wife/widow.

Difficult to be sure unless you find more members of the family.

Hi Brenda,

Found ; William Anthony     5 FEB 1827 Renfrew Road Workhouse, Lambeth, Surrey, England
Parents William Anthony and Elizabeth Rice
  On IGI  ref number 069791

Tried to find William Anthony (senior) and there are two one in Derby and one in Cornwall.
Perhaps if you look at these and see if any family name come to the fore.
Have  look on www.familysearch.org   click on IGI, this will enable you to find any other members of the family.

Hope this helps.     Patricia

Thanks for the help folks.
I'm hoping to get my William Anthony b.1825 marriage cert this week and then I will find out his Father's name.
Still don't know if this will further my quest though !!
I'm thinking that my William was without parents in 1841 and that Hannah or Anna may have been the widow of either William's brother or his Father's brother.
What a hard life they must have had with poor Hannah being a labourer !!
The closest that I got was on IGI that a William Anthony born 1825 at the 'Lying in Hospital' Holborn.
This apparently was a hospital catering for poor married women to have their babies.
Brenda
p.s. I think that the family were long term Islington people.
